Wheel-Thrown Stoneware Inspired by Nature & Everyday Rituals

Hi, I’m Lindy — the ceramic artist behind Lindy Garner Ceramics.

Working from my studio in Cheadle, Cheshire, I create wheel-thrown stoneware designed to be used and enjoyed every day. My work combines clean, functional forms with layered glazes inspired by woodland landscapes, tidal blues, shifting skies, and the subtle colours found in nature throughout the seasons.

I’ve been working with clay for over a decade and continue to be drawn to the quiet unpredictability of the ceramic process — the way glaze moves across a surface, the atmosphere created in the kiln, and how handmade pottery can become part of someone’s daily rituals and routines.

Each mug, vase, jar, and cup is individually thrown on the wheel, glazed by hand, and finished in small batches from my Cheshire studio. I focus on creating functional pottery that feels comfortable to hold and natural to use, balancing practicality with quiet character and thoughtful detail.

My ceramic collections are released in small curated batches, each exploring a particular mood, palette, or landscape-inspired atmosphere. Some collections lean earthy and grounded with mossy greens and woodland tones, while others explore deep water blues, soft airy neutrals, or glowing twilight-inspired glazes. Layering glazes allows movement, depth, and variation to emerge naturally during firing, giving each piece its own subtle shifts in tone and surface.

Texture and tactility are an important part of my work. I’m especially interested in creating pottery that invites touch — mugs with comfortable handles, softly rounded forms, dimpled surfaces, and pieces that bring warmth and calm into everyday spaces. My aim is to create handmade ceramics that people reach for daily, whether it’s a morning coffee, flowers gathered from the garden, or a quiet evening ritual at home.

As a one-woman pottery studio, every stage of the process happens here — from throwing and trimming to glazing, kiln firing, photography, packing, and preparing collections for online shop updates and markets. That slower, hands-on approach is central to my work and allows each collection to evolve organically over time.

Inspired by the Natural World

Much of my work is inspired by changing landscapes and seasonal colour — lichen-covered stone, woodland moss, tidal water, shifting skies, weathered textures, and soft natural light. I’m continually drawn to surfaces that feel layered, atmospheric, and slightly unpredictable, where glaze movement creates depth and variation across each form.

Through my collections, I hope to create ceramics that encourage people to slow down, enjoy small daily rituals, and connect with the beauty of handmade objects in everyday life.

Whether you discovered my work through a market, social media, or while searching for handcrafted ceramics online, I’m very glad you’re here.
